Hello brides-to-be. Penny’s Wedding have been interviewing the fabulous Doily Days about their exquisite wedding planning business. They adore the rustic vintage wedding style, so ladies if this is your thing then check them out! We LOVE the crockery and Campervan hire!
Tell us about Doily Days
Doily Days is a wedding and event business specialising in a rustic/relaxed/vintage theme.
What services and products are available?
We offer vintage china hire, VW Campervan hire, wedding favours (small jars of old fashioned sweets, jams and chutneys), catering (festival style canapés, afternoon teas and hog roasts), flowers, table plans, marquees, wedding planning and venue dressing.
Can you offer advice to a couple who don’t know where to begin with their wedding plans?
I would say decide upon the theme or feel that you want to achieve for the big day and then search for the perfect venue. We find ourselves working with many DIY brides and as such go to lots of marquees on private land and barns. Woodland/Campsites look to be huge for 2012 weddings and we’re looking forward to doing some site visits soon. I especially can’t wait to visit Billycan Camping in Arundel; I’ve heard really good things about it and seen some amazing photos.
We offer a bespoke wedding planning service so we can work with a variety of ideas and budgets, suggesting venues and suppliers. If people like the ‘Doily Days’ style we can personally take care of many elements – catering, crockery, transport, flowers etc but we can also recommend brilliant suppliers for dresses, cakes, entertainment etc.
Can you cater for civil partnerships or other events?
Absolutely! We’ve done christenings, retirement events, birthday parties, funerals, launch parties and proms.
What is involved in the consultation and planning process?
I would usually arrange to meet a client for an informal chat, get their creative ideas and an idea of the budget. I will then show them photos of previous events, mood boards and menus. After the consultation I will collaborate the ideas and prepare a quote based on their specific requirements.
How involved are you with the wedding plans?
It depends what they’re booking with Doily Days. Some people hire china and have their own caterers so we’re simply required to pack everything up and drop it off. This is usually the case with the wedding favours. For the Campervan hire, I am involved with logistics (making sure the driver has correct addresses and times!) but that’s it. If they’re just having transport I often liaise with the bride/groom via email.
My favourite events are when they incorporate many of our products and services – it really feels like a Doily Days party and I pick up lots of new tips from the small elements they’ve done themselves i.e. menus, place names etc.
Do you attend on the wedding day itself?
If we provide the catering then I manage the event on the day but there are many events we organise that I do not attend.
How many weddings have you previously planned?
I have been involved in 50+ weddings and events.
Do you have a portfolio that we can view?
My very favourite part is getting copies of professional wedding photos. It’s so brilliant seeing beautiful flowers displayed in my teapots, my teacups being used by guests dressed up to the nines and the shiny Campervans in their posh ribbons. You can see plenty of images on the website gallery www.doilydays.co.uk
I also update Facebook regularly with wedding photos, interesting articles and top tips.
Plus, I’m a tentative tweeter @DoilyDays.
How can we contact you?
You can conatct me using the email, firstname.lastname@example.org or if you’d prefer to call me, 07795 076 553.
