Shopping for a bridal dress is probably the first thing a bride-to-be thinks about when she becomes engaged. It’s such an iconic dress that everybody notices, comments on and has high expectations of, however this should never be a daunting process. It should be an experience filled with fun, laughter and tears of joy. Planning and shopping for a wedding should never be a chore, yes, we will all have our stressful moments but there should never be any issues overshadowing your wedding plans.
Serendipity Brides has been exceptionally serving the bridal community for seven years and are based in the Heart of England, just off of the A45 in Weedon, Northamptonshire. Lisa opened Serendipity Brides as a result of her own negative bridal shopping experience, vowing to create a relaxed atmosphere where there is no need to ring a bell or ask for permission to enter a shop.
Stocking fantastic designers such as, Maggie Sottero, Pronovias, Sophia Tolli, Phil Collins plus a wide variety of bridesmaid dresses, accessories, shoes and gifts; you are destined to fall in love with something. All wedding dresses are custom made to your specifications therefore it is recommended you allow six months for your gown to be created.
So what makes Serendipity Brides unique from other bridal boutiques? Firstly they were shortlisted for the final of the 2012 Wedding Industry Awards with all nominations made by previous customers. Secondly, the entire team genuinely love the shop, the people and making a bridal experience you will never forgot. Thirdly and most importantly, nothing is too much trouble for them and I do not say that lightly. I arranged to visit them for this feature and totally surprised them by taking a newly engaged friend of mine with me. We were there for a few hours and even though they were incredibly busy and we were there ‘just for fun’, they never ushered us out or implied we had outstayed our welcome.
The décor is stylish and feminine and has a distinct homely feel about it which is incredibly difficult to achieve. I can honestly say that I have never before walked into a bridal boutique and felt at home; this is what defines Serendipity Brides. Lisa makes you feel as if you’ve been friends for years. There is lots of laughing and chatter about forthcoming nuptials, even between other brides-to-be, which I think is magical.
The attention to detail is second to none. There are comfy elegant sofas for family and friends to utilise whilst you are having your consultation, plenty of tissue boxes ready for all those tears of joy and music to encourage a relaxed environment (if you’re really lucky, as I was, you might get an exclusive performance of an air guitar playing to Chesney Hawkes – now where else could you find this!). You are offered a variety of drinks and cakes throughout your visit and they never let you go dry so be prepared.
During my visit, three brides-to-be from earlier in the day actually returned to the shop to purchase dresses, stating they’d been elsewhere but this is the place for them. Lisa’s success stems simply from word of mouth, she hasn’t advertised anywhere else other than the website. This is such an achievement and a huge credit to her hard work, staff and their belief in weddings. They share your journey, emotions and genuinely care for your wedding day.
As a married lady it felt a little strange visiting Serendipity Brides, the emotional aspect I had as a bride-to-be seemed to have diminished. Almost like a ‘been there, done that’ feeling however I really loved the excitement created by the brides-to-be. I can completely understand why Lisa created this boutique and why she loves her job. Brides put their trust in Lisa and her team, allowing them to choose bridal dresses you’d have overlooked had their expertise not been available. They all have an amazing gift of spotting what dresses will suit you.
When shopping for your bridal dress, the last thing you want is to be judged, ridiculed or not to feel special. Serendipity Brides are the crème de la crème of bridal boutiques and come highly recommended by a semi-professional bridal dress sampler (me!)
